Smith Recognized by Independent Research Firm in the Commerce Services Landscape

We’re thrilled to share that Smith, the leading performance commerce agency, has been recognized by Forrester Research in the report, The Commerce Services Landscape, Q2 2023.

For the Commerce Services Landscape Q2 2023, Forrester identified a group of thirty-five technology service providers, agencies, and consultancies. These are categorized by size from large (over $1 billion dollars in commerce services market revenue) to medium (between $100 million and $1 billion) to small (less than $100 million). Smith was noted among commerce services provider agencies with a geographic focus in the North American market and an industry focus in Consumer Packaged Goods, Industrial Manufacturing, and Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment.

This Landscape helps bring clarity to what is a crowded playing field. According to Forrester: “There are hundreds of other commerce service providers. We included the ones with a commerce services approach that we most often recommend to our enterprise clients.”

The Forrester Commerce Services Landscape is designed to educate Forrester clients and help them explore the commerce services market. The report defines commerce service providers as: “[p]roviders with the expertise, assets, and alliances to help companies craft end-to-end commerce strategies and implement and operate total commerce experiences”.  Forrester Landscape reports  examine overall market dynamics and use cases. Landscapes provide an overview of individual providers to help Forrester clients prioritize and explore potential partners based on size, industry focus, and geographical coverage.

With ever-changing market dynamics, there is a need for every brand, across consumer and B2B business models, to deliver what Forrester calls the “total commerce experience”. This refers to the need for merchants to optimize every step of the buyer journey, across every interaction and channel. This Landscape provides guidance on how brands can align with commerce service providers that have the ability to provide the strategy, technical skills, and implementation and operational know-how to deliver on the promise of creating a total commerce experience for their customers.

“We believe that being named in this report recognizes our deep experience and expertise in commerce, and how our unique industry focus can differentiate us from others in the space,” said Liz Duggan, EVP of Strategic Consulting at Smith.
