00:07 – Do you hate shopping for a car? Well, you haven’t seen anything yet until you tried shopping for commerce software.
00:12 – Kidding, I’m kidding. It’s not that bad, but it is really, really confusing. It wasn’t too long ago where there’s only a couple different
00:18 – Software options and you can kind of narrow those down by being B2B or B2C. But there’s been this shift towards a composable mindset
00:24 – Where vendors are choosing to focus on a specific piece of commerce functionality. And then what you have to do as a customer is buy multiple
00:31 – Pieces of software and connect them, integrate them together to build kind of a best fit ecosystem for you. It’s great in terms of flexibility
00:38 – But it adds a lot of confusion in the procurement process. Think about what you want to achieve, what are areas
00:46 – that you struggle with today, but then what are areas that you want to grow in the future? What does your three to five year goals look like?
00:54 – Take a look at your roadmap and start to piece together where you are today, and then how you might use software iteratively over time
01:02 – To get to your end goals. Pair that back to the things that you’re seeing in the market, and then come up with a nice solid strangler pattern approach to building out where you want to go.
