Use the AI Already in Your Tech Stack (Part 2: SAP)

Category

In part two of our series, we’re diving into SAP, a foundational system for many large enterprise organizations. Over the past few years, SAP has started to infuse AI across its products to enhance business functions and processes. If you’re using any SAP products, chances are you already have access to some powerful AI tools. Strategically activating these AI capabilities already embedded within your existing tech stack can help organizations unlock significant value and a competitive advantage without the cost and complexity of implementing new systems.

AI Across SAP Products

SAP has been consistently integrating AI across their suite of products, not as a separate offering, but as a native part of how these tools work. From finance and procurement to HR and supply chain, these AI features are designed to enhance everyday workflows, automate routine tasks, and surface insights when they’re needed the most. While this isn’t an exhaustive list of SAP’s AI initiatives, we’ve compiled a few key capabilities to help you spot what might already be available in your SAP environment.

SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)

SAP BTP powers much of the AI innovation happening across the SAP ecosystem. It gives businesses the tools to integrate and extend AI capabilities within their existing applications, without starting from scratch. With services like SAP AI Core and Launchpad, teams can build and manage their own machine learning models, customize AI workflows, and even bring in third-party tools. BTP also makes it easier to connect data from different sources, so AI can deliver more relevant insights in real time.

New enhancements to SAP Integration Suite, part of BTP, also bring AI deeper into the connective tissue of the tech stack. AI-assisted tools help teams build and monitor integrations faster, identify API trends, and proactively spot anomalies. A new AI adaptor enables integration with custom large language models, offering more flexibility for businesses that want to embed their own Gen AI models into SAP applications

SAP Emarsys

SAP Emarsys brings AI into the hands of marketers, helping them deliver more personalized campaigns across every channel. With built-in predictive models and real-time automation, it’s easier to understand what customers want, and when. From tailoring content to optimizing send times, AI does the heavy lifting so teams can focus on strategy and creativity. It’s all about engaging customers in ways that actually feel relevant.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition brings AI into the flow of everyday work. Whether it’s automating invoice matching, flagging unusual activity, or summarizing long reports, AI is built in to help teams operate more efficiently. The AI is built to take on repetitive tasks so teams can focus on making better decisions.

SAP SuccessFactors

SAP SuccessFactors incorporates AI into key HR processes. From hiring the right candidates to planning for future workforce needs, AI adds an extra layer of intelligence that helps HR leaders stay ahead. It also supports employee engagement by delivering more personalized experiences that support employee growth and satisfaction.

SAP Analytics Cloud

With SAP Analytics Cloud, AI makes it easier to jump into data and uncover insights without the usual hassle. It automatically spots trends, forecasts outcomes, and generates key insights. It brings together data from across the business a clear picture of what’s happening now and what could happen in the future.

SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP)

SAP IBP brings AI into the world of supply chain and business planning, helping businesses stay ahead. It uses real-time data and advanced algorithms to improve demand forecasting, allowing businesses to plan more accurately and avoid surprises. AI also takes care of time-consuming tasks like inventory management and optimizing supply chains, freeing up teams to focus on bigger-picture strategy. By pulling all this data together, IBP makes sure teams are aligned and working with the same insights, helping everyone respond more efficiently to changes in the market.

SAP CX AI Toolkit

The SAP CX AI Toolkit is a powerful set of AI-driven features designed to enhance customer engagement and streamline commerce operations within SAP Commerce Cloud. It helps businesses improve product content management, optimize the front-end user experience, and generate marketing content more efficiently. Key features include automated product descriptions, visual search, AI-driven product recommendations, and tools for generating social media posts and blog content.

Joule & Joule Agents

Joule is SAP’s Gen AI assistant that is directly integrated into business workflows. Users can ask Joule to summarize reports, extract insights from real-time data, or generate recommendations, using natural language. Joule is context-aware, drawing from SAP’s business data model to give accurate, actionable responses without needing to switch platforms.

Joule also has Joule Agents, AI-powered task assistants that handle specific workflows like invoice matching, expense approvals, and candidate screening. You have the option to use out-of-the-box agents or create your own custom agents unique to your business.

SAP is also introducing Joule Studio, a new feature within SAP Build that gives users a low-code/no-code environment to create custom Joule Agents and Skills. With drag-and-drop tools, teams can design AI workflows tailored to their specific processes. Joule studio also allows for integration across SAP and third-party systems, making it easier to extend automation beyond individual applications.

SAP Build

SAP Build is a platform that makes application development faster and more accessible, whether you’re a developer or a business user. It combines low-code tools, AI assistance through Joule, and pro-code features to help teams easily create, customize, and automate applications. You can generate UI components, automate business logic, and integrate across SAP and third-party solutions.

Recent updates to SAP Build bring together low-code tools, pro-code options, and gen AI into a unified development experience. A new extensibility wizard helps teams quickly get started.

What’s Next?

As SAP looks ahead to 2025, its AI roadmap reflects an ambitious year. They plan to deliver over 400 embedded AI use cases across their cloud portfolio by the end of the year. The goal is to enhance how businesses manage finance, procurement, supply chain, and more. SAP’s Gen AI assistant, Joule, is becoming a core part of solutions like S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Ariba, and SAP Build. It’s showing up where people actually work, offering natural language interactions, real-time insights, and guided decision-making that fits into users’ daily workflows.
